Bed Bug Treatment, Eradication & Removal
Client Instructions
Bed bugs are persistent, highly invasive pests capable of rapid reproduction and deep harbourage in furniture, fabrics, cracks, and crevices. Pest Dominion provides a professional two-part chemical treatment programme, engineered for full eradication when customers follow all required preparation and aftercare steps.
Your cooperation is essential.
Success depends on both the treatment and your preparation. Incorrect or incomplete preparation significantly reduces effectiveness.

1. Guarantee & Customer Responsibility
To ensure fairness and transparency, Pest Dominion uses a Preparation Quality Score (1–10) during inspection.
Score 8 or higher: Eligible for a free third treatment if required.
Score below 8: Guarantee becomes void due to insufficient preparation.
Points Breakdown:
Washing and correctly bagging clothes: 3 points
Vacuuming floors, carpets, mattresses, and upholstery: 2 points
Skipping these tasks automatically loses 5/10 points.
Important:
Failure to follow instructions may result in treatment failure. Pest Dominion cannot be held liable where preparation or aftercare has not been correctly followed.
2. Treatment Overview
Part 1 – Initial Chemical Application
Professional-grade insecticides targeting eggs, nymphs, and adults:
Cypermethrin
Tetramethrin
Piperonyl Butoxide
Pyriproxyfen (IGR)
Permethrin
Two powders (one insecticidal, one non-toxic desiccant)
Part 2 – Follow-Up Treatment (2–4 weeks later)
Ensures eggs that hatch after the initial visit are eliminated.
3. Pre-Treatment Instructions (Mandatory)
These steps MUST be completed before our technician arrives.
Insufficient preparation will weaken results and may void your guarantee.
A. Declutter Safely (Critical)
Remove clutter such as toys, books, shoes, and boxes.
Do NOT move items into untreated rooms (this spreads infestation).
Dispose of infested items responsibly in sealed bags.
B. Laundry Requirements (High Importance – 3 Points)
All bedding & clothing from affected rooms must be:
Placed in airtight sealed bags before moving.
Washed in hot water above 49°C.
Dried on the highest heat setting above 60°C.
Follow garment labels – Pest Dominion accepts no liability for damage.
Items that cannot be washed must be:
Frozen at –30°C overnight, or
Heat-treated using professional laundry services.
C. Vacuuming (Mandatory – 2 Points)
Vacuum using a HEPA-filter machine:
Carpets & rugs
Beds & mattresses (especially seams and folds)
Sofas, chairs, upholstery
Curtains
Skirting boards & floor edges
Immediately dispose of vacuum bags in sealed plastic bags outside the property.
D. Furniture & Room Access
Move all furniture 30 cm (12 inches) away from the walls.
Strip all bedding from beds.
Empty drawers, wardrobes, bedside units.
Keep heating on if the weather is cold.
E. Items to Remove from the Room
Electronics (mobile phones, laptops, tablets)
Food & drinks
Personal belongings
Pets & children
F. Avoid These Mistakes
Do NOT introduce new or second-hand furniture.
Do NOT use DIY sprays or foggers – they cause chemical resistance.
Do NOT move items between rooms.
4. What to Do on the Day of Treatment
Ensure full access to all rooms being treated.
Remain outside treated rooms for a minimum of 4 hours (HSE guidance).
Allow surfaces to fully dry before re-entering.
Ventilate thoroughly once safe to re-enter.
5. Post-Treatment Instructions (After Each Visit)
A. Do NOT Clean Treated Surfaces
For minimum 2 weeks, do NOT:
Vacuum
Mop floors
Wipe skirting boards
Wash carpets
This ensures the residual insecticide continues to work.
Full cleaning may resume 3 weeks to 2 months depending on infestation severity.
B. Continue Sleeping in Treated Rooms
This encourages bed bugs to cross treated surfaces and die more quickly.
C. Manage Humidity & Temperature
Keep rooms warm (22°C+).
Reduce humidity using open windows or a dehumidifier.
D. Normal Expectations After Treatment
You may still see:
Slow-moving or dying bed bugs
Occasional live activity for 7–14 days
This is normal as the treatment continues working.
6. Requirements Before the Second Treatment (Very Important)
You MUST complete these steps 24 hours before your second appointment:
1. Vacuum Thoroughly Again
Carpets
Beds & mattresses
Sofas & upholstered items
Skirting boards & edges
2. Re-create Access for the Technician
Move furniture 30 cm from walls
Keep rooms decluttered
Keep heating on in cold weather
3. Do NOT wash treated surfaces
All chemical residue must remain in place from the first treatment.
4. Ensure all laundry tasks are completed
Unwashed clothing harbouring eggs will reinfest the property.
7. Additional Legal Protections
To protect Pest Dominion:
We accept no liability for damage to items laundered or heat-treated incorrectly.
Chemical effectiveness depends on customer compliance.
Guarantee applies only when preparation score is 8+.
Reinfestation from external sources (guests, travel, neighbours, shared buildings) is not covered.
