Site Specific Risk Assessment Policy Document

Introduction

Pest Dominion Limited is committed to ensuring the safety, health, and welfare of its employees, clients, and all others affected by our operations. This policy document outlines the approach and procedures for conducting site and task-specific risk assessments in compliance with the relevant Health and Safety Executive (HSE) regulations.

Policy Overview

At Pest Dominion Limited, we recognise that every site and task may present unique risks and hazards. Our policy is to systematically identify, assess, and manage these risks to mitigate harm to people, property, and the environment. This approach ensures compliance with the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations (COSHH), Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999, and other applicable legislation.

Objectives

  • To carry out thorough, site/task-specific risk assessments for all pest control operations.
  • To ensure that appropriate control measures are implemented to minimise identified risks.
  • To ensure compliance with HSE guidance and relevant legislation.
  • To safeguard the health, safety, and well-being of employees, contractors, clients, and the general public.

Scope

This policy applies to all Pest Dominion Limited employees and contractors who undertake pest control tasks on client sites, as well as any subcontractors employed by the company. It also covers all environments where pest control measures are carried out, including residential, commercial, industrial, and agricultural settings.

Procedure for Site/Task Specific Risk Assessments

  1. Initial Site Survey: Before commencing any pest control operation, a competent person shall conduct an initial survey of the site to identify potential hazards, risks, and specific client requirements.
  2. Hazard Identification: A full assessment of the hazards relating to the use of chemicals, traps, and equipment will be made, in line with COSHH and other relevant regulations.
  3. Risk Assessment: A comprehensive risk assessment will be conducted for each task, evaluating the likelihood and severity of each identified hazard.
  4. Control Measures: Control measures will be implemented to eliminate or reduce risks to an acceptable level. This includes PPE, safe handling procedures, restricted access, and signage.
  5. Documentation and Approval: All risk assessments will be documented and kept on file. Copies will be made available to employees and clients upon request.
  6. Ongoing Monitoring and Review: Risk assessments will be regularly reviewed, especially after significant changes to the site, task, or legal requirements.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Management: Ensure risk assessments are completed, provide resources and training, and ensure compliance with health and safety legislation.
  • Employees: Participate in risk assessments, report new hazards, and use PPE as instructed.
  • Contractors and Subcontractors: Must comply with Pest Dominion’s risk assessment procedures and communicate any risks specific to their operations.

Compliance with HSE Regulations

Pest Dominion Limited is committed to full compliance with the HSE regulations and guidelines, ensuring that all risk assessments meet or exceed statutory requirements. This includes following guidelines provided under the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations, COSHH, and other applicable industry standards.

Conclusion

Through this Site/Task Specific Risk Assessing Policy, Pest Dominion Limited seeks to promote a culture of safety and responsibility. By identifying and mitigating risks associated with pest control activities, we aim to protect our workforce, clients, and the broader public from harm, whilst maintaining full regulatory compliance.
